The United States has unveiled a new assistance package for Ukraine aimed at mid-longterm defensive capabilities.
The package included 18 more of the highly vaunted HIMARS systems, several hundred vehicles, trucks, radars, anti-drone materiel, body armor, miscellaneous supplies, and additional funding for training and maintenance.
As Russia reels in the aftermath of the Kharkiv counteroffensive, the additional deliveries of HIMARS to Ukraine will likely build on its ability to strike occupied territory in a tactical manner, even as frontlines advance continuously in Kherson and the Donbas. Additionally, high-mobility vehicles will help Ukrainian forces conduct fast offensives into occupied territory, though the role and demand for tanks will likely continue to mount.
