Ukrainian forces have achieved successes in Kharkiv, setting the stage for a hard push into Izyum amidst a wide collapse of Russia’s military in the area.
Lightning-fast Ukrainian advances have already secured several towns and have nearly cut-off Russian forces in Izyum. Yet successes in Izyum come amidst the continued Ukrainian advance through Kherson, which has taken a far slower but determined pace. With Ukrainian forces reaching parity in the south, the speed at which fighting in Kherson develops will likely be influenced by offensives elsewhere, particularly as Russia must contend with a 500km frontline and a limited amount of combat-ready forces.
