Russian bombers launched strikes from Belarusian airspace amidst ongoing recognition of Belarusian participation in the war.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has reportedly claimed Belarus only assists Russia in humanitarian efforts, aiding Russian soldiers and Ukrainian refugees. It has also claimed that there will be no mobilization, with the country continuing to avoid direct military participation in the war.
Recently, Poland completed a fence along the border with Belarus to stem the flow of refugees. Belarus has previously facilitated the passage of refugees through its borders into the European Union as a destabilizing technique. With the recent surge of Russian defectors avoiding the war, a route through Belarus will likely remain unadvisable for many.
