Russo-Ukrainian War 9/18/22

Several sources have reported Ukrainian forces in the vicinity of or in control of Lyman, despite Russian claims on the contrary.

The general lack of confirmation indicates that Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Kharkiv is commencing under a degree of operational silence, even as the war begins to shift gears into a ‘winter’ phase.

As Ukrainian forces have reportedly crossed over the Oskil river and are continuing to pressure Russia on the outskirts of Lysychansk, Lyman’s capture by Ukrainian forces has become an eventuality, if not a certainty. Whether or not Ukrainian forces are truly in control of the settlement, it is likely that Russian forces will suffer further complications in maintaining their frontline as a result of the city’s contention.
