Russo-Ukrainian War 8/7/22

British intelligence has reported on the high turnover rate of Russian military leaderships, with commanders being sacked or killed by increasingly effective Ukrainian strikes.

After the seizure of Kyiv was ruled out as an impossibility, military leaders in the Donbas and southern Ukraine were reassigned as part of Russia’s move to take a combined arms approach to the battlefield. Even as Russian forces sought to re-establish control over the battlefield with the constant use of artillery, they have still had disproportionate casualties from attacks on logistics and command nodes.

As Russian forces have consistently repelled, only scoring minor victories since the start of the battle for the Donbas, frequent sacking of local commanders has contributed to the jumbled chain of command, which is already archaic due to Russia’s reliance on top-down leadership.
