Russo-Ukrainian War 8/2/22

Ukraine has reiterated that no HIMARS have been destroyed in combat, refuting Russia’s dubious claims that two HIMARS batteries were destroyed.

The evidence released by Russia seemed to suggest that the HIMARS were located inside the second story of a two-story building, an impossibility given the nature of the HIMARS batteries.

As Russia continues to redeploy forces to southern Ukraine amidst a wider deterioration of logistics and command nodes, the Black Sea fleet’s operation in Sevastopol will likely be threatened further. Though the UAV attack reported in Crimea was likely staged or by Ukrainian partisans, it evidently served to cancel Russia’s navy day parade, an indicator that Russia is increasingly worried about the presence of its warships in the Black Sea.
