Russia struck the port of Odesa with ‘Kalibr’ missiles just hours after an agreement with Turkey and Ukraine regarding grain shipping. Though Russia has not claimed responsibility, the only users of Kalibr missiles include several nations far out of range of the port city, with no incentive to do so.
Russia’s flagrant missile strike comes amidst further reports of a possible counteroffensive in southern Ukraine. As Russia continues to run out of precision-guided munitions, its ability to effectively strike Ukrainian military targets will continue to degrade. Despite this, Russia will likely continue escalating its attacks on civilian centers in an attempt to terrorize Ukraine’s population.
