Russo-Ukrainian War 4/3/22

A detailed Human Rights Watch report has exposed graphic depictions of the atrocities in Ukraine, particularly in the city of Bucha.

The world has widely condemned the massacre in Bucha, with Western leaders unanimously agreeing that Russians commit atrocities and war crimes during their occupation of Kyiv’s surroundings. Many drew concern over Mariupol, where an estimated 150,000 remain trapped, and Kherson, where MAXAR satellite has discovered 800 mass graves.

But no condemnation has been as strong and assertive as Zelenskyy’s. Zelenskyy seems to have shifted from his ‘Russia ≠ Putin’ language that he used to try and rally protestors in Russia.

Concentrated evil has come to our land. Murderers. Torturers. Rapists. Looters. Who call themselves the army. And who deserve only death after what they did.

For many older generations from Eastern Europe, memories of the Soviet invasion and subsequent occupation remain open wounds. To them, the Russian army has never changed, using the same tactics of mass murder, rape, and pillaging as they did in the building of the Soviet Union.

The world has already seen many war crimes. At different times. On different continents. But it is time to do everything possible to make the war crimes of the Russian military the last manifestation of such evil on earth.
